Cookie Policy
Effective from April 26, 2026. Updated periodically.
Last updated: April 26, 2026.
This Cookie Policy explains the small text files (“cookies”) and similar technologies (local storage, session storage, pixel tags) that The Techbull places on your device when you visit our sites and apps, and how you can control them.
For the broader context of how we use your data, see our Privacy Policy.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file saved by your browser when you visit a site. We use them — and a few related technologies — for four purposes only: keeping the site working, remembering your preferences, measuring (in aggregate) what people read, and powering our directly-sold ads. We do not run third-party retargeting trackers or sell your behavioural data.
Types of cookies we use
1. Strictly necessary
The site cannot function without these. We do not need consent to set them.
wordpress_*,wp-settings-*— keep you logged in if you have an admin or advertiser account.ttb_session— short-lived session token used during checkout and form submissions.ttb_csrf— CSRF protection for forms.
2. Functional
Remember your choices so the site adapts to you.
ttb_ccy— your preferred currency (USD/EUR/KES) for ad pricing. 30 days.ttb_react_{post}— local-storage entry that prevents you from reacting to the same article twice.ttb_consent— records your cookie-consent decision so we don’t ask again.
3. Analytics (aggregated)
Help us understand which stories and sections work, in aggregate. No third-party trackers — analytics happen on our own servers.
ttb_anon_id— a randomly-generated ID stored in localStorage to deduplicate visits during a single session. Rotated every 24 hours.- Newsletter open pixel — a 1×1 image on each newsletter that registers an open on our domain. Disable image loading in your mail client to opt out.
- Click redirect — links inside the newsletter pass through our domain so we can count clicks before sending you to the destination.
4. Advertising
Powers the direct-buy ads on our site. We do not use cross-site retargeting.
ttb_imp_{slot}— short-lived flag used to dedupe the same impression being counted twice on a page reload.- Click redirect — ad clicks bounce through our domain to count them; we then forward you to the advertiser’s destination URL.
Third-party services that may set cookies
A small number of partners are present only when actively in use:
- Cloudflare — sets
__cf_bmfor bot protection andcf_chl_*while displaying a Turnstile challenge during signup. Strictly necessary. - Pesapal — when you choose KES / mobile money / African cards at checkout, you are redirected to Pesapal, which sets its own cookies for the payment flow.
- PayPal — same, when you pay in USD or EUR.
- Resend — does not set cookies on our domain.
- YouTube / Vimeo — only when an embedded video is present on a page; we use the privacy-enhanced (“nocookie”) variants by default.
Your choices
- Consent banner — visitors in the EU, UK, Kenya and other jurisdictions that require it see a banner on first visit and can accept or reject categories.
- Browser controls — you can clear cookies, block them by category, or set your browser to refuse all cookies. Some functionality (login, currency memory) won’t work without functional cookies.
- “Do Not Track” / Global Privacy Control — when your browser sends a GPC signal we treat it as an opt-out of analytics and advertising cookies.
- Newsletter open tracking — disable image loading in your email client.
Updates to this policy
If our cookie set changes materially, we’ll update the table above and reset the consent banner. The current version’s “last updated” date is at the top of this page.
